Helping students in writing
« on: June 14, 2016, 07:25:19 AM »
Good morning,

I am looking to create a writing frame to put on desks to help students in their writing and was wondering what acronym type things people use. I know of TEA (trend, evidence, anomaly). What other ones are helpful for students?

For exam technique ...

BUG - the questions, Box round the command words, Underline the key words and Glance back through the question

PEEL the answer - Point, Explain, Evidence and Link back to the question.

I cannot praise the use of BUG enough- since teaching it to my students it has made a visible impact on their grades- across all abilities. Really simple and useful.
