Summer work
« on: July 06, 2014, 11:02:47 AM »
Good morning,

I am looking at revamping the summer work that we set for year 9 going into Gcse geography and for the year 10 into year 11. As inspiration I was just wondering what kind of activities other schools set.

Thank you for your ideas in advanced

We set YGOTY but other than that summer is a time to take a break for both students and staff.

What is the benefit of setting curriculum content? Doesn't it just generate conflict with those who don't do it and mean extra work making sure all are up to the same point? Take a break.

Totally agree with Stuart- a time off! Get them watching the news, enjoying the holiday and exploring the landscape!

We don't set anything as a rule- give them and us a break! Some staff may set homework related to what they have been studying- but it is up to individual teachers. Some year when we have done controlled assessment with the hols in sandwiched in the middle they have work related to that.
