Director of International and Humanities Faculty Southend
« on: March 01, 2012, 03:04:37 PM »
The post of Director of International and Humanities Faculty is advertised in the TES this week.  "The school is a wonderful challenge in that Southend is not full of middle class academics and so most students come from a background of non-university parents and raising aspirations and generating success is all part of the process.  It is a selective Grammar school (taking the top 24% of Southend which is the equivalent of an upper band in a comprehensive school  and take the equivalent quality of the top 40% nationally.)  It is not a hot-house of academia but we do get the good grades.  In the Ofsted before Christmas we got a 1 grade in every single aspect!  All 43 or something criteria from the previous style of inspection.

The geography aspect of the job includes fieldtrips with Year 10 and 12 and opportunities for trips with other groups as part of our International Dimension.  There are also numerous day trips with Year 7 and a curriculum day with Year 8 and 9 that can readily go off site.  We also expect to use the school grounds for plenty of activity.  There is also a very large faculty to run!

Is there anyone who you know for whom this sounds appropriate?  The direct link to the job is http://www.tes.co.uk/job/director-of-international-and-humanities-faculty-53614/
