« on: May 20, 2009, 11:25:19 AM »
HI I have somehow got lots of money to spend. About 300 quids worth? I have all the books/ atlases/ stationary I need and am subscribed to geography in the news. Any ideas of what I can buy/ subscribe to (online resources etc..)
Thanks in advance for ideas.

I always bought exercise books a year in advance... ;-)

Do you need to spend it now or can it hang around in the budget till January? There's going to be examboard style courses that might need paying for I should imagine. Or time out of school planning? That's always what I'd spend any spare on if I had the choice.

Worth spending a small amount of that on joining the GA - they have a huge amount of good resources for sale and you get big discounts as a member. The KS3 Teachers' Toolkit series is proving very popular and has loads of good teaching ideas and resources in each book (I don't get a cut unfortunately from promoting this series... ;))

e.g. KS3 Geography Teachers'' Toolkit: Water Works - Do we have equal rights to resources?
Price: £14.67    Price to members: £9.78 (Book plus DVD)

I am slightly jealous that you have spare cash to spend. Increasingly my department have to seek cost cutting measures to purchase text books for the new specificaions etc! The latest is buying A5 exercise books rather than A4! Oh for £300!!!!

Jealous rant over!

Ah, the real trick is to stay very late in school. You never know what you might find in cupboards in, say, the history department... You can save all sorts of money that way you know :)
