We have 5 lessons per fortnight (1hour) at GCSE and 3 per fortnight at KS3. 6 at GCSE woul take the pressure off in year 10 as we sit modular and 6 topics is a lot.  ;)

We also teach the investigation in the summer of year 12, the students have to write up a complete report and then we complete all past papers whilst teaching Climatic Hazards and China. We teach 4 hours for each topic and 1 hour for G3b per fortnight.
We link command words to connectives and identfy sketch maps, diagrams and case studies for each key question. I agree pupils have difficulty applying knowledge - especially from AS!
Analysing exemplars is useful although can confuse as different examples/case studies are used.
I have to say that for some, 25 marks is very difficult, especially if they were C or below at AS!
We do however have fairly good results for China, pupils are very interested and there is lots of up to date information. Pupils can then use lots of geographical skills / knowledge such as, population, settlement, physical characteristics of climate, agriculture etc etc.
I don't think there is one answer and if you find it then it changes with the next cohort!!!

We always enter in Jan and have had pretty much results in line with predicted. It's always a shock to step up to 25 marks! What topics? I think that you need to spend lots of time on technique! I found that G3b can often let them down as it is not as well covered but carries same marks - how did they o n that?

I need help!!! I know that I have had the most amazing Christmas quiz via this forum in years gone by! I think I remember the creator 'hanging up her quizmaster hat' and I am attempting to create my own only the best rounds were the sounds / songs. Does anyone know how to create a montage of songs really easily?

I thought that if 10% of your cohort had improved marks they mark the whole lot free? Therefore all marks should, in theory, improve?

I have a carousel activity on uses where they look at impacts of various uses positive and negative with data capture which could be used to present or write about it? Let me have your email if its not too late and you want to have a look!

HB100 - how many are you remarking? I have about 35 higher tiers and there is no way we can afford that! Interestingly our foundation pupils averagely performed 1 grade better than FFT which means the average 2 below for higher is even more puzzling. I would have put money on my higher teri performing well - so gutted :(

I don't think WJEC grade boundaries have changed but I think the remit must have been mark harshly - not happy with marks for all higher tier but at £45 a remark there is no way it can be challenged - disillusioned  :'(
