Port Clarence was a huge part of Middlesbrough, sadly an area that is now desperately poor.

A classic interview of one of the few left living their on tonight's news said "it's safe here to live and let your kids play out on the streets" when asked if he would buy it he replied "I wouldn't give you £750 for the street". Got to love Teesside!!

This is not a chain. The consultation paper says :

When the school converts the staff automatically transfers to the new academy. The leadership team and Governors are committed to ensuring that we will offer rates of pay and conditions of service which at least match those available in comparable schools and reward our staff appropriately. This is one of the core principles we will adhere to in framing the constitution of the academy.

Cheers, I had the same thought really.  If I stay where I am we will be one before the close of this academic year I am led to believe...

Hiya folks

Slightly off topic (not Geog) but wondered if you could share your opinions - I have a job interview on Tuesday at a school that is applying to become an Academy out of choice.

The school I am at has results below the national floor targets so is likely to be an academy within a year or so anyway.

Should I be concerned about going to the new school? How has it changed life for people in schools that are already academies?

Much appreciated

If my grades get any worse ill not be allowed near sharp objects - Jesus Christ!

I agree Judith, so I am using my planner as normal and basically doing what I always do.  I have heard they could now take as long as six weeks. ::)

Thanks for replies :-)

Last Monday we got the ofsted call but it was deferred as Kate (and Wills but he cancelled) landed her helicopter on our school field for a local visit.

It was all very exciting but we are now in a wierd limbo of we know they are coming but they are not coming, done full huge lesson plans for a full week now and am not doing anything other than mark and plan - ie not doing my Faculty job as I haven't time.

Anyone got any advice on how quickly they're likely to come - this is worse than torture!!

From tomorrow I am stopping doing full lesson plans - so I can get other stuff done.

Crazy days.

Totally awesome ! What a pair of cojones that bloke has. I would have sat on that step forever.  Definitely using it tomorrow in reg.
