General Discussion / Pearson Geography Progression Scale
« on: November 22, 2016, 08:14:39 PM »
Pearson's Geography  Progression Scale is an easy to use tool to track students’ progress over Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. It comprises of 12 steps ranging from low (1) to high (12) challenge. It is anticipated that the average student will enter year 7 working at the 3rd or 4th step. The expectation is that a student will make one Step of progress a year.

Brilliant - thank you!

Many congratulations to the schools who recently been awarded GA Quality Marks and centre of Excellence status.
These awards are given to recognise high quality geography in our schools - well done to all the teachers and pupils and students involved!!  :)

Secondary and Centre of Excellence

Val Vannet, Geography teacher and Deputy Rector at the High School, has been awarded the Royal Scottish Geographical Society's (RSGS) Tivy Medal, a prestigious honour which is given for exemplary, outstanding and inspirational teaching, policy or work in education.

Val was an early and very enthusiastic and committed pioneer of this forum; she helped many teachers with her creative and innovative ideas as well as her wise counsel. Her RSGS award is just recognition for her contribution to geographical education, not just in Scotland but much further afield too.

Well done Val!!
