Bit of a long shot but can anybody remember the name of this programme and it might be 15 to 20 years old. The programme simulated how people could be killed in the even of an earthquake in Japan. Very 'clean' but effective. For example, glass falling from the ground and people die (not visually but implied). Probably a programme like Horizon or something of that ilk.

General Discussion / Re: Stretch and Challenge

Even key tasks can be differentiated based on current/target level. So a menu on the power point - names colour coded - task based on their current/target level; then again colour coded challenge target cards; you can even have homework menus. IMO, the powers that be simply want to see that you know your students level and target it differentiated in tasks set in class/home. Oh forgot possibly have a display (mountain geographical or whatever; individual students a climbing the mountain to show progress. Inherently the powers that be are bone idle so you need to jump through hoops to make it so EASY for THEM; stamps; codes in margins; coloured pens for certain tasks, even photocopy marking/challenge feedback - show progress/feedback confirmation from student. So after running around like a blue bottom fly you might get to teach too. Good luck.

General Discussion / Re: Text books or not
« on: October 08, 2015, 08:40:47 PM »
I do believe a fundamental issue with textbooks is that they have not changed to keep pace with changes in education. The notion of a double page spread incl a 1/3 /1/2 page tasks on one of those pages seems dated.

Strange choice of command phrase IMO by the exam board.

Looking at both / all sides of the argument and then offering your own view based on those arguments.
