I too complained and have had this reply today. They seem to be trying to "fix" some of the problems. Somehow I don't think I am going to get too excited about the fact they might fix it!
Thanks for contacting us about the issues you’re having with finding clips in Bitesize. We’re sorry you’ve found it difficult to find the content you need.
We’ve taken the decision to bring together all our curriculum resources in one place – our new Bitesize website. Previously, resources were spread across multiple websites created over many years, and bringing them together in one place is intended to make them easier to find. In our new website, when browsing by Key Stage, subject and topic, you will find clips under the ‘Classroom Resources’ tab (whereas Bitesize content is found under ‘Learner Guides’). Clips are also now available via mobile devices including smartphones and tablets.
As part of this work, we have now closed the Class Clips website and are redirecting users to the new home of clips, Bitesize. Here you will find many of the clips previously available on Class Clips as well as an ever-growing number of new clips. We have also put in redirects so that your old clip links will continue to work, providing the clip is still available. Old links will take you either to the clip’s new location on Bitesize or to the relevant programme page elsewhere on bbc.co.uk. Unfortunately if clips are no longer available on bbc.co.uk then we have not been able to migrate or redirect in these cases.
The new Bitesize site is a work in progress: we are aware of the issues you point out and are working as fast as possible to make improvements to ensure clips and study guides are more findable. This includes improvements to the relevance of search results and creating simpler ways to browse for content.
In the meantime, if you’re using the search box at the top of the page, please do make sure you also click ‘Bitesize’ in the list of options that appears above the search results. This will filter out results from other parts of the BBC such as News etc, and should improve the relevance of the results you see.
We hope this is helpful. Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. We take audience feedback very seriously and are working to make the new Bitesize site as usable and relevant as possible for teachers and students.
