General Discussion / Geography of crime
« on: January 01, 2012, 02:26:11 PM »
Does anyone know if the Geography of crime programmes are anywhere on the Internet? We have an old copy on video which we can't use anymore but the programmes themselves are really useful so we'd like to use them! Thanks

General Discussion / Blogger question
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:00:39 AM »
Anyone familiar with blogger and can help?
I've come to do a new post and the little icons like link and photo above the box where you type have gone. I suspect its something that the other author has done? Anyone know how I get them back please?
I have posted the link to the blog on the AQA  A level ning as I thought that would be most useful but if anyone else wants to have a look its  (GCS are the initials of our school)
thanks in advance

General Discussion / Geography of conflict...bit cheeky but....
« on: February 21, 2011, 02:27:24 PM »
Happy half term to all!
Bit cheeky as I've been AWOL for 6 months or so from here but would anyone have a scheme of work on conflict that I could shamelessly 'borrow'? Was thinking of using the Geog.teaching today stuff and probably some conflict diamonds stuff and..... ? But if anyone has already done something similar and would be happy to share then I would gratefully accept. (Its for Yr9)

If you haven't already helped yourself to my stuff on 4shared yourself ......  and all my A level stuff is on the AQA Ning

thanks in anticipation!

Need help from someone more knowledgeable than me about urban geography!

What is the difference between property-led regeneration and partnership schemes? Is the funding different? Who implements them? From the 3 text books I've looked at and the surfing I've done I can get loads of info about examples (UDCs and City Challenge Partnership Schemes) but not the very basics........ I can't see what the difference is!

General Discussion / Funny exam answers
« on: July 04, 2010, 05:18:32 PM »
Lets face it - for many of us marking exam papers it is only the occasional funnies that keep us going.

I've had the usual 'terrorist' (terraced) houses and have just come across 'coldy sacks'....... what other funnies have you had? ;D

General Discussion / Gentrification question
« on: June 16, 2010, 10:52:36 PM »
Would you say that somewhere like Southwark is an example of gentrification or not because much of the regeneration was / is planned by agencies not individuals?   ???

General Discussion / Guided busway St Ives - is it operational?
« on: May 07, 2010, 09:51:39 AM »
Is there anyone who lives or works in this area (Rob??) who is able to tell me if this is actually up and running yet?

General Discussion / Arrghh! Emergency help anyone??
« on: April 29, 2010, 02:32:59 PM »
Our HoD is still stuck in the Caribbean (ash!) and we've been trying to cover her GCSE and A level classes by taking extra classes. Most of her KS3 classes have been covered by cover supervisor (but we still have to set work of course).

I've also written a year 10 mock exam for next week. I've just discovered that the year 9 ILT (independent learning task) is due to be given out next week and thats another thing the HoD would have done in this fortnight if she was here. Our ILTs are supposed to take 10 hours of homework time (students only have one subject for the fortnight). We were going to do an ILT on Mapping Festivals but it was not to link in with our SoW.

So the begging question is - does anyone have ANYTHING that might be similar / useful / that I could adapt (doesn't have to be on this topic!). Trying to do all H o geog work on top of all my own is very difficult (am Assistant Head so got  a million and 1 jobs to do anyway!)

General Discussion / CCEA A2
« on: April 06, 2010, 11:57:38 AM »
Is there anyone doing CCEA? If so do you know where I can find A2 Module 3 (human Geog and global issues) past papers? I've found where all the past papers are supposed to be and I've found mark schemes that include this module but I can't actually find any of the past papers for this module   ???

General Discussion / A2 revision day?
« on: March 16, 2010, 11:19:57 AM »
My A2s are really struggling and I'm thinking of running a revision day in Easter for them. I've run GCSE ones before but never A2 (or even AS). Does anyone have any experience of this? What sort of things do you do? Any advice gratefully received

General Discussion / Spam posts at the moment
« on: February 13, 2010, 06:55:18 PM »
There seems to be loads of spammers at the moment and one particularly persistent person (I've deleted his account 8 times so far and goodness knows how many times the other moderators have!). Please do keep reporting the spam posts - if moderators are alerted we can deal with it really quickly ( and now I can do it all on my iPhone I'm determined the persistent spammer is going to give up before me!

General Discussion / Globe trotting journey of a top - or similar?
« on: February 05, 2010, 10:02:43 AM »
In the past I've used 'The Globe trotting journey of a top' from however, the website doesn't seem to exist now and googling it doesn't throw up anything helpful. Does anyone know where this has gone, or of anyhting similar? (You can guess what the activiy was from the title!)
