Sorry for no reply, only working part time now! Yes that's the one I believe - I presume its fairly decent?

Jodi and Rob, that is so useful. I'll email you now Jodi.

General Discussion / Haiti's Killer Quake for new AQA GCSE

Hi all,

I have just returned from Maternity leave after a year off and trying to crack on with new AQA GCSE - we are moving from WJEC B.

Obviously didn't need any tectonics info before. I have contacted C4 and Pioneer who made the documentary but they want £25 for it!

Hi Jenny,
We can sell DVD copies at £25 incl. P&P.

Please let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in.

Thanks!

I don't suppose anyone managed to record this when it was on? I could pay £10 but not £25!

General Discussion / Temporary/Maternity job in Worcestershire (Droitwich)
« on: December 15, 2014, 02:33:07 PM »
Hi all,

I did post on jobs but thought it was worth posting on main forum too.

I am going to be leaving to go on Maternity after Easter 2015. I work at Droitwich Spa High School (large comprehensive) in Worcestershire (5 mins off J5, M5) and have a very nice department with good resources, exam results etc. I will be off for a full year and is a full time post, although part time would be considered. A September start could be discussed too.

If anyone can think of anyone suitable or who would be interested, please let me know. It hasn't been advertised yet, we are just trying to get organised. If someone would like to come and look round, spend a day shadowing me etc, this could be arranged.

Please reply through the forum or to jenruddick@hotmail.com

Job vacancies and job seekers / Maternity cover Worcestershire Easter 2015

Hi all,

I am going to be leaving to go on Maternity after Easter 2015. I work at Droitwich Spa High School (large comprehensive) in Worcestershire (5 mins off J5, M5) and have a very nice department with good resources etc. I will be off for a year so it would be perfect for a past PGCE student who hasn't managed to find full time work. The NQT year would be acknowledged and support put in place. Full time Geography with own classroom etc.

If anyone can think of anyone suitable or who would be interested, please let me know. It hasn't been advertised yet, we are just trying to get organised. If someone would like to come and look round, spend a day shadowing me etc, this could be arranged.

General Discussion / Numeracy Display
« on: October 23, 2014, 08:48:49 AM »
Hi all,

Our SLT's new idea is for every department to have a Numeracy display somewhere in the corridor. Just wondering if anyone else has had to do one that they could upload a photo of for some ideas? I know there is lots to do for Geography but as it's end of half term I will end up sticking up some climate graphs with labels if I'm not careful!

Thanks

General Discussion / WJEC B GCSE Paper
« on: May 14, 2014, 12:08:45 PM »
Hi all,

The WJEC B Ning doesn't seem to exist anymore, or the school network has blocked it. I wondered how other staff felt the Unit 1 paper went yesterday?

I thought it was a fair paper and decent case studies but foundation tier had an awful lot of reading, think this would have put a lot of children off. Don't know what has happened to the groups of people they are normally keen on? Spent two years practicing that and no-where to be seen.

Thanks

General Discussion / Y9 Levels or Grades
« on: November 19, 2013, 08:57:21 AM »
Hi all,

We have been told that despite not doing the GCSE in Y9 we are going to have to give Y9 GCSE grades instead of levels. Does anyone else do this? I just thought giving out E's and U's would be really demotivating and surely bad for option uptake? I did argue I would struggle to give a GCSE grade but apparently it should be easy?!! It will be starting after Christmas on their next report.

Feeling a little fed up with the whole thing as I can't see any benefits at the minute

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Jenny

General Discussion / HS2
« on: November 07, 2013, 08:41:42 AM »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has done a case study/lesson on the HS2? I emailed our exam officer last night and realised what we had planned for Y11 didn't hit enough of the assessment criteria.

Had to change so many case studies over the past couple of years I'm beginning to run out of steam. WIlling to share others.

Thanks

Jenny

General Discussion / Giant Map England and Wales

I don't know if anyone else has ever hired this map but it's great!

www.maplandbritain.co.uk

We have got it for 2 days and my classes have loved it - infact one student went at lunch to change his option form from History to Geography :)

£233 for 2 days which we paid for from our remaining Iceland money.

Would recommend, especially at this time of year. Got some great photos but don't think I can upload onto here.
