It's near impossible to find any resources that are free on there any more, I've just uploaded a load of free lessons for the new AQA 1-9 spec.

Hopefully it will encourage a few others to share their work with others?

General Discussion / Creative Use of Textbooks
« on: July 05, 2016, 03:59:09 PM »
Does anyone have a creative way of using textbooks in lessons?

I'm keen on up-skilling colleagues in my faculty area on the lost art of using textbooks.

I know they are out of fashion, but I think there is a correlation between PPT lessons and the decreasing literacy standards seen in schools.

Any 'creative' ideas that don't involve completing the questions would be appreciated.

Any other ideas like quick on the draw?

General Discussion / Level 8 Tasks
« on: November 20, 2014, 10:57:10 AM »
This year a number of our year 9s have been given level 8 as targets and in previous years the highest was a 7A.

We are now adapting our SOWs/resources with L8 tasks, if anyone has any ideas/examples they would be appreciated.

Surveymonkey is a good free web based resource for student feedback!

There was an episode of the apprentice a few years ago and they had that exact task. Think it all went a bit pear shaped though?

This was an item in the last east Sussex humanities network meeting and a head of humanities led a CPD session on this.

His email address is c.guyton@theeastbourneacademy.org

I'm sure he won't mind forwarding you the resources

Nothing new but refer back to the all, most & some objectives to show progress.

Also have a tracking sheet in the student books/portfolios with their target grades & assessment grades to show how they've improved over time.

OFSTED are increasingly using student books/portfolios as a way of measuring progress over time and to make a judgement on the quality of teaching.

If you go on the wjec ning I've put some model answers for case studies & a ppt to visually show the difference between the 4 levels. It's worked really well and all students have shown a marked increase in their ability to answer case studies.

Just a reminder that the govt is banning this in the near future (unless you an academy)!
